Ayurveda Treatment: The Holistic Approach
Ayurveda, commonly referred to as the "science of life," has treatments that are always performed based on the needs of the individual. Contrary to conventional medicine, which usually targets the relief of the symptom alone, Ayurvedic therapy aims to find out what has caused a symptom. The concept of holism here involves diet-based treatment, along with lifestyle and Prakriti or constitution of a person.
Understanding Ayurvedic Therapies
These Ayurvedic therapies run the gamut from the simple to the most complex in nature, and every therapy is directed at bringing back balance and maintaining harmony in the body. Some of the most typical therapies are the following:
Panchakarma - the detoxification process cleansing the toxins and rejuvenating the system. It comprises five prime procedures: Vamana-Emesis, Virechana-Purgation, Basti-Enema, Nasya-Nasal administration, and Raktamokshana-Bloodletting.
Herbal Remedies: The application of certain natural herbs and plants, like Ashwagandha, Turmeric, and Neem, is being used to stimulate the healing process and enhance immunity.
Diet and Nutrition: Dietary plans are made under the concepts of Ayurveda. According to Ayurveda, for maintaining good health, one must have a proper balance of three doshas, including Vata, Pitta, and Kapha.
Yoga and Meditation: physical postures and mindfulness practices are included to uplift mental and physical well-being.
